Your regular Bandgeeek programing with return next week
In the meantime, check out these local music, art resources.
Bandgeeek is on vacation this week. It’ll be back full force next week, but I can’t not give you something, so here are five music/art/entertainment resources you might wanna follow as a hold over.
The Local Show on KFSR. Radio show /music archive from Nate Butler. Unqiue playlist each week with massive amounts of geek fodder about the songs and bands. Presented live and in podcast format.
Homegrown on NewRock 104. 1. Shameless self promotion. One-hour weekly (heavy, indie, punk, pop) rock radio show with a focus on the Central Valley. Lots of new music, concert info and interviews. Not a podcast, so you gotta tune in.
Great Day Festive Friday. KMPH morning television does live music on Friday. This is a long-running segement that has seen a ton of local players (as well as sone out of towners on occasion). Check out the KMPH website for an archive of past performances.
Fresno subreddit. This isn’t music art related per se, but if you’re a Fresnophile or just looking for a rabbit hole to scroll down, it can be pretty good. For instance, how else would you know that Fresno Nightcrawler was featured on a recent episode of the podcast Ghouls Night In?
Visit Fresno County. Website run by the Fresno/Clovis Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. For those looking for that old-school events calendar, this is as good as it comes (and it’s pretty good). Events are broken down by date, but also categorically (Fourth of July events as a recent example) into a fairly robust list.
That’s it for this week. Remember you can now hear me on the Homegrown Show Sundays at 8 p.m. on New Rock 104.1 FM and follow my other writing at The Fresno Bee. If you have anything you think I need to be looking at or listening to, feel free to let me know: jtehee@gmail.com
